CAST ASIDE 515

Cast Aside 515 - Cast Aside 515 is a multimedia publications, promotions, and productions project started in the summer of 2025 by Bryan Williams, an aspiring broadcast journalist and personality out of West Des Moines, Iowa. Starting with the Cast Aside 515 Fanzine shortly after graduating from Valley High School in 2025, Bryan had to cure the itch to continue his pursuit of journalism and publications that started all the way back in middle school. In his time as a student with 88.7 KWDM The Point, Bryan was able to use his creative vision to elevate the station to heights never thought possible for a nonprofit high school station. From breaking viewership records, scoring high profile music-related interviews, interviewing the local scene and earning a spot in the student-journalist honor-roll, Bryan had built a pretty solid resume for himself prior to graduating high school.

 

Cast Aside 515 seeks to be the ultimate succession and longstanding culmination of all of Bryan’s journalistic and creative efforts. In his own words,

 

“Cast Aside 515 focuses on building community and creating media of all formats, primarily focusing on spotlighting local music, social issues, art, satire, and so much more!”

 

Cast Aside 515 continues to grow through different forms of media. The bimonthly releases of the Cast Aside 515 Fanzine (print), Cast Aside video-zines (video), and The Cast Aside 515 Show (audio). 

 

The Cast Aside 515 Fanzine - A bimonthly one-page zine featuring random thoughts and opinions, local music reviews, news, and more. Found all around the Des Moines metro in record stores, venues, and anywhere that alternative media would be of interest. 

 

Cast Aside 515 Video-Zines - A wide variety of video productions by Cast Aside. These feature footage of live music performances and street interviews, as well as a larger scale video zine project titled Cast Aside 515: In Your Face that is set to release in the late summer/early fall of 2026. The Cast Aside video-zines have the same goal and focus as the Cast Aside fanzine, adapting those elements to a video production from the print media it originates. 

 

The Cast Aside 515 Show - A project that has not yet entered production, The Cast Aside 515 Show is set to be an audio focused, radio style show hosted by Bryan Williams. Following a lot of the same formula as the Cast Aside 515 video zines, the show will focus on street interviews, as well as solo segments with Bryan discussing things happening in the Des Moines area and the state of Iowa.
